Yesterday Kingfisher class had their Christmas Party which they have worked hard to prepare for all week. We started off the week creating a menu of party food the children wanted to eat.
Cheese and pineapple sticks
Homemade star biscuits
Homemade angel sponge cakes
Homemade mini pancakes
Hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows
Kingfishers then thought of what ingredients we would need to make the food on our menu and wrote a shopping list. In groups we took this to the local shop and bought the ingredients we would need.
With our ingredients all ready it was time to get baking the cakes and biscuits ahead of the day of the party. All of the children were involved in making these and really enjoyed themselves.
On the day of the party we began the day by designing place mats for the tables and making party hats. In groups the children finished preparing the rest of the food. The children really enjoyed watching the popcorn being made in the duck popcorn maker.
In the afternoon the class enjoyed party games, including Who's Santa and Santa Says, and some Christmas stories before tasting the food they had worked hard to prepare.
At the end of a fun afternoon we had a very special visitor from Father Christmas. What a fantastic end to the term!
