Welcome to our school

At St Andrew's we are a welcoming, inclusive school who are extremely proud of our staff and the achievements of all of our children. In our January 2018 OFSTED inspection we were awarded a “good” judgement. The report highlights that:

St Andrews continues to be a good school where everyone is valued, cared for and encouraged to succeed both academically and socially.

Our vision and ethos is “growing together” to unlock potential through a curriculum where pupils thrive and develop character and master knowledge and skills. Everyone is valued and cared about. We welcome diversity and pride ourselves upon the fact that we embrace a wide and varying community and that we always strive to achieve the highest standards possible. We are passionate about ensuring that every child leaves our school with the skills and experiences required to lead happy and successful lives. Whilst being engaged in a broad and engaging curriculum, our pupils learn about themselves and what they have to offer to the world. We want our children to make a positive contribution to the community around them and to realise the necessity for every individual to play their part. Our Y6 pupil attainment is above national expectations.

We are blessed with the most wonderful grounds that are spacious and full of opportunities in which to grow and learn, with St Andrew’s Church overlooking our youngest children’s playground. Our pupils are able to explore, appreciate and cherish the outdoors through our curriculum which includes Forest School, pond dipping and exploring our wildlife area.

We are a nurturing school who currently practices the Thrive approach. We pride ourselves on the relationships that we develop and the care and kindness that we give to every child as an individual. Nurturing children is everything that we live and breathe. We support pupils’ emotional and social development and help them feel happy, loved and secure, able to enjoy friendships, relate well to others and be ready and able to learn. Through nurture, we support them in becoming more self-assured, capable and adaptable.

We have been praised for our Thrive work through the highest award - Thrive school of Excellence. This means we are recognised as a school showing exemplary Thrive® practice, an inspirational space where staff go above and beyond to make a positive impact on students and the wider community. The assessor stated:

“It was such a pleasure to see first-hand the way that staff, pupils and families at St Andrews have come together to prioritise mental wellbeing. From the moment you set foot in the school, you feel that there is a nurturing and positive atmosphere where every child is seen as special and is given the tools to unlock their academic and wider social potential.”

Meaningful relationships and partnerships enable all within the school to flourish.

Driven by their Christian vision to grow together, the school is highly inclusive. All are welcome here.

Pupils are confident that staff will always be there for them and staff say that ‘everyone is made welcome and loved here.’
