St Andrew's Primary School Growing Together

New playground update

To the children and parents of St Andrew’s,

I just wanted to say a huge ‘thank you’ for your amazing efforts during lockdown to plan how to improve our KS2 playground. The teachers were so impressed with how much thought had gone into your designs and the level of detail was stunning. The plans included so much more than play equipment and we have kept a note of all the other things you would like to develop in the future.

Once all the ideas had been shared with each crew, the treehouse reps chose 2 to be put forward to our Year 6 children in the school council executive committee. They then summarised all the strengths of the finalists’ plans and collated the results. At the end of Term 4, the executive committee met on a Zoom call with our playground consultant from Pentagon Play who shared several possibilities. The Year 6 team have now chosen the final design and negotiated to have it installed in Term 6. They represented the school brilliantly being polite, inquisitive and driving a hard bargain!

We are very lucky to be well on the way to affording this exciting new project with funds from the Government’s sports premium and contributions from our fabulous PTA.

Due to the excellent relationship the Year 6 children forged with Pentagon Play, they have agreed to install all of the equipment before we will have raised the final amount of money so that Year 6 crew are able to see the fruits of their labour!

Therefore, we need to ask for your continued help to raise money over the coming months. Regular updates will be shared on fundraising events and on how much we have to go before reaching our target of £1500.

The first opportunity is coming up very soon – details to follow later this week. A fundraising bucket will also be available in the playground at drop off for any spare change you may like to contribute.

Many thanks once again,

Mrs Gartland
